WinSCP won't start from the systray popup
Links to remote files in the popup PC-with-hat in the systray can fail
to work if your install of WinSCP is off-standard.
Old versions of WinSCP were located in directories like C:\Program Files\WinSCP3, which more recent versions work with C:\Program Files\WinSCP. If you have or had an older version and installed a newer one, the old path names may have staid in place.
The Shaman assumes that WinSCP is installed in the new location, C:\Program Files\WinSCP. If it isn't there, proceed as follows:
- Uninstall WinSCP
- When asked by the uninstaller, indicate NOT to remove information stored
on your computer. This will avoid destroying built-up WinSCP preferences
and sessions links.
- Reinstall WinSCP, for example from media supplied by OpenFortress.
- Click on the WinSCP link from the systray icon. It should now work.
- When in doubt, make sure that WinSCP is installed in the place where it
should be.
